Tree Preservation Order Fines Highlight Need for Awareness

A local company has been fined $1,200 following a breach of Coffs Harbour City Council's Tree Preservation Order (TPO).

Council initiated court action to enforce its TPO following the removal of koala habitat trees on a Moonee property in June last year.

Director of Council's Planning, Environment and Development Department, Gina Vereker said the incident highlighted the need for all landowners and occupiers to be aware of the Coffs Harbour Tree Preservation Order.

"Anyone considering cutting or lopping trees anywhere in the Coffs Harbour Local Government Area should first consult council and obtain the proper approval if it is required," Ms Vereker said.
