Dear urban forestry colleagues, During 26-30 May 2009, we hope to see many of you in Arnhem, The Netherlands, for the 12th European Forum on Urban Forestry. Theme for this year’s conference in Arnhem, greenest city of The Netherlands, is ‘Urban forestry - Working together for green city values’. Invited speakers include:
- Expert from Triple E (http://www.tripleee.nl/) on the topic of assessing and promoting the economic values of urban forests and other green spaces - Tom Wild, University of Sheffield (to be confirmed; on the topic of ‘making places profitable’ by means of urban forests) - Representative of the municipality of Arnhem (on the process of becoming the ‘Greenest City of The Netherlands’ ... and perhaps the ‘Greenest City of Europe’) - Representative of Växjö Municipality (self-proclaimed ‘Greenest City of Europe’ – on the process of green city branding and the role of urban forestry in this) - Cecil Konijnendijk, University of Copenhagen (on the topic of green city branding through the ages) - Peter Bentsen, University of Copenhagen (on the topic of outdoor schools) - Agnes van den Berg, Alterra (on the topic of children and nature) - Ann Van Herzele, Free University of Brussels (on the topic of public involvement in urban green space planning and management) - George Borgman, Borgman Beheer Advies (on practical experiences with urban forestry participation projects in The Netherlands) - Clive Davies, Newcastle University (on the topic of green infrastructure as promising tool for future urban forestry) - Wim Timmermans, Alterra (to be confirmed; on the topic of innovative urban forestry for the 21st century)
